Welcome back to KevinEatsWings.com! After my review of the first ten wings, I decided to take a brief break from posting on a weekly basis, but I didn't stop eating wings! I've got a backlog of reviews ready for posting, and I can't wait to share some of the exciting discoveries I've made about local chicken wings. To start things off, let's talk about the first national chain I've reviewed here on the blog: Famous Dave's.
Although Famous Dave's is known as a barbeque joint (Or is it barbecue? BBQ? Barbie Q.? Hm. Definitely not that last one.), the wings were quite surprisingly good. My decision to change The Wing Rules™ from eating the "hottest sauce on the menu" to the "most unique" has definitely paid off too. Pineapple Rage is not only a fun name for a sauce, it also was a great balance between sweet and spicy. Notes of peppercorn came through, which I'm beginning to believe is a secret ingredient in making a delicious wing sauce (see my post about Van's), and the pineapple lended a sweet acidity which was beyond anything a basic buffalo sauce could provide for wings.
I was at Famous Dave's for a Harry Potter Trivia Night event, and I have to say that it was an all around wonderful evening. My weekly trivia group normally meets up at a bar or noisy restaurant, so the family crowd that showed up for some barbeque and magic at Famous Dave's was refreshing. I'm sure we'll be back and I look forward to trying one of their special combos that includes wings and another meat of your choice. Maybe I need to register KevinEatsBrisket.com just in case. I'll think about that one and get back to y'all. I did look into KevinEats.com to expand the brand, but I think that Kevin is putting the URL to good use and I don't want to step on any toes. Also KevinEats.Pizza seems to be available, but I'm far too lactose intolerant for that to be a healthy decision.
Do you have any suggestions for future expansions to the KevinEatsWings.com brand? Leave a comment below! Thanks!
